Diann's Testimony

In the summer of 1994, I began to experience extreme tiredness and a noticeable lack of energy.  I passed it off as the result of a spell of very hot weather.  I finally went to the doctor, after almost passing out while driving.  My doctor detected an irregular heartbeat, and referred me to a cardiologist.

After testing, the cardiologist diagnosed me with a heart arrhythmia an incurable heart condition. Because the condition was affecting me in such an adverse way, he felt that there was nothing he could do except prescribe medication.  There were two major drawbacks to this:  I would have to continue the medication for the rest of my life, and the medication had serious side effects. The doctor then ordered a battery of tests, and scheduled me to see him again in two weeks, so that he could prescribe the best suited medication.

Between this visit and my next scheduled visit, I traveled to Jackson, NC with my family for a special church meeting.  We were going for ministry, and so we took the keyboard with us.  I had prayed and asked God for a new song.  While on the trip, God granted this request. The song He gave was God Is. The song doesn't beg for anything. It doesn't talk about trials and tests.  It only exalts God. I was so excited about this song. I began to sing it over and over.  When I was especially tired, I would sing, “God is strength to me.”

When we returned home, I taught it to our choir.  The choir loved it, and we taught it to the church. The church loved it, and so we sang it over and over and over.  One night I was singing the part God is the Creator, and God spoke to my spirit and said, "I made you.  If anything goes wrong with you, Ill fix you."  What a nice reminder of Who God Is!  I needed to hear that.

The two weeks passed, and it was time to visit the cardiologist again.  When I went in, he gave me a stress test on the treadmill.  He hooked me up to a computer and looked at my heart on the monitor. He reviewed the tests from the lab.  Then he told me that he could find absolutely nothing wrong with me anywhere.  They had tested almost every major organ in my body, and there was nothing out of order.  Even my cholesterol level was extremely low!

There really is a "song of deliverance" - Psalm 32:7.   I had sung my way into health! Singing "God Is" had changed my focus. Instead of always thinking about how sick I was, I was singing about God, my Doctor.  The change of focus brought a change of health!"  I cannot tell you the precise day, or the exact time, but I can tell you that God completely healed me – all because GOD IS!
